For 500 years ago, Ecuador has provided the world with the best fine-scented cacao and that is why its chocolate has come to be awarded and valued by the most demanding culinary tastes in the world. This “Golden Seed” is a reference to the profound richness of our land; the active volcanoes that spill their ashes into our forests and rivers, the privileged location of Ecuador in the middle of the world, the variety of climates and altitudes; among other factors make this land a perfect place to produce one of the most known varieties, whose name is “National Fine Aroma” and from which the best quality gourmet chocolate bars in the market are produced.

“ECUADOR LAND OF CACAO AND CHOCOALTE”

“For almost a century, the Ecuadorian socioeconomic order was developed in great proportions around the international cacao market. Today, Ecuador possesses a great superiority of this product. Around more than 70% of the global production of the fine-scented cacao are found in our lands, which makes us the largest producers of fine-scented cacao in the world. This has generated an important, favorable, outstanding, indispensable, and representative prestige for the country.

This type of cacao has individual distinct characteristics with floral, fruity, nut, almond, and spice touches, which make it unique and special on top of its already known different taste.

All these details of taste and aroma are in the genetic origin of the bean, that is achieved through the right treatment postharvest combined with natural conditions of the land, climate, temperature, and luminosity that converge in one point, in one land, in the magical and marvelous Ecuador situated in the middle of the world” (1)

“ECUADOR LAND OF THE ORIGIN OF CACAO”

According to archaeological studies and findings found in the Mayo-Chinchipe culture geological site in Santa Ana-La Florida located in the Zamora Chinchipe province of Ecuador, it has been confirmed that the use of cacao dates back to 3,300 B.C.

“You cannot talk about Ecuador without talking about cacao. To talk about cacao is synonymous of culture, development, identity, and patrimony; it is to talk about a historical legacy so ancient and full of splendor as the rivers, forests, and volcanoes that characterize this South American country. For many years, Ecuador has been recognized as the greatest producer of fine-scented cacao, and for more than 500 years it has provided the world with a special cacao with aromatic and floral profiles that historians have denominated as “Cacao Arriba”.
