PROCEDURE FOR TRAVELLING TO THE GALAPAGOS

By law, any person that is a non-resident of the Galápagos Islands can only stay in the islands for a maximum of 60 days per year, therefore the Governing Council has implemented the following procedures for immigration control:

1. PRE-REGISTRATION

  • Go to https://siiws.gobiernogalapagos.gob.ec/siicgg_web/ and click on the button located in one of the columns to your left: ”Pre-registro
    Individual” for one passenger or “Pre-registro grupal” for two or more passengers.
  • Fill up the form (the form is only in Spanish)
  • If you meet all the requirements to travel to Galapagos, a confirmation message will appear. You will then receive an e-mail with the instructions for the next steps to follow, once at the airport in Quito or Guayaquil.

2. TRANSIT CONTROL CARD EMISSION (TCT)

  • Once at the airport in Quito or Guayaquil, show an ID and your round trip tickets to from Galapagos, at the “Consejo de Gobierno de
    Galápagos” counter.
  • Confirm that your personal information is correct and pay the $20 fee (in cash) for the TCT.

3. BAGGAGE REVIEW

  • Next, go to the Agency for Biosecurity for Galapagos (ABG) counter to have your bags reviewed. This procedure is to verify that you are not
    taking any items that could endanger the biodiversity of the islands.Important: Verify your baggage allowance in your airline ticket.

    Galacruises Expeditions usually issues tkts that allow a 23 kg checked baggage on the flight and one 10 kg carry-on luggage. The additional weight is paid directly at the airport.

    Please bear in mind that if you are also taking an inter-island flight, the baggage allowance for inter-island flights is one 15 kg piece, per person. (Inter- island flights: Baltra – Isabela – Baltra / Baltra – San Cristóbal – Baltra / Isabela – San Cristóbal – Isabela)

4. PRESENT YOUR TCT

  • Once you arrive to the airport in San Cristobal or Baltra in Galapagos, an immigration control agent will ask to review your TCT and take your
    digital fingerprint.

5. ENTRANCE FEE FOR GALAPAGOS

  • After showing your TCT, you should pay in cash the Galapagos National Park entrance fee amount according to your category in the following
    table:
CATEGORY TEENAGERS AND ADULTS CHILDREN UNDER 12
International visitor 100 USD 50 USD
International visitor from the Andean Community or MERCOSUR 50 USD 25 USD
National and International resident of Ecuador 6 USD 3 USD
Non resident students enrolled in Ecuador 25 USD

6. FINAL CARRY-ON LUGGAGE REVIEW

After paying your entrance fee, an agent from the ABG will inspect your carry-on luggage to make sure you are not introducing any dangerous items into the island. Please bear in mind that you cannot bring any organic products to the archipelago.
