PROCEDURE FOR TRAVELLING TO THE GALAPAGOS
The Galapagos Governing Council has implemented NEW proceedings in Galapagos in order to have a better immigration control:
1. PRE-REGISTRATION
- 1a. Go to http://www.cgg.gob.ec and click on the button “Residencia”
- 1b. Once in the “Residencia” page, go to the link Pre-Registro Turistas, select your language (English/Spanish), read the instructions for Tourist Pre-Registration, and click on “Start Pre-Registration”
- 1c. Complete the form on the next page. If you meet all the requirements to travel to Galapagos, a confirmation message will appear. You will then receive an e-mail with instructions for next steps once at the airport in Quito or Guayaquil.
2. TRANSIT CONTROL CARD EMISSION (TCC)
- 2a. Once at the airport in Quito or Guayaquil, present a photo ID at the “Consejo de Gobierno” counter.
- 2b. Confirm your personal information is correct and pay the $20 fee (in cash) for the TCT.
Important: Baggage allowance is 20 kg on the flight to Galapagos (TAME and AVIANCA/AEROGAL) and one carry-on luggage. Carry on luggage must be 10 kg with AVIANCA/AEROGAL and 8 kg with TAME. Extra weight must be paid.
3. BAGGAGE REVIEW
- 3a. Next, go to the Agency for Biosecurity for Galapagos (ABG) counter to have your bags reviewed. This way we can verify that you are not bringing any items that could endanger the biodiversity of the islands.
- 3b. Once you have your TCC and have had your bags reviewed by ABG, then proceed to your airline check-in counter.

4. PRESENT YOUR TCC
- 4a. Once you arrive to the airport in San Cristobal or Baltra in Galapagos, an immigration control agent will ask to review your TCC and take your digital fingerprint.
5. ENTRANCE FEE FOR GALAPAGOS
- 5a. After showing your TCC, you should pay in cash the Galapagos National Park entrance fee amount according to your category in the following table:
6. FINAL CARRY-ON LUGGAGE REVIEW
After paying your entrance fee, an agent from the ABG will inspect your carry-on luggage to make sure you haven’t brought any dangerous items into the island. Please bear in mind that you cannot bring any organic items to the archipelago.
